Hiya.I am in the menopause and am finding it impossible to loose weight. Will thiswork for me ?

  • Louise from Jenny Craig20 October 2010 at 05:13

    Hi Diane

Many women find it difficult to lose weight around the menopause, but providing you follow the plan given by your Jenny Craig consultant and remember to exercise too, there is no reason why you shouldn’t be as successful in losing weight as someone who is younger!

  • adele22 October 2010 at 12:22

Hello! Is this a gimmick that is reliant on loads of will powerthat means you would lose weight anyway? Just that since my then 4 year old daughter was diagnosed with cancer 7 years ago, its been hard to focus on myself and i have ballooned -at heaviest i was 19 st 2 but have managed to get to 17st 10. My problem is remaining motivated and now I'm at risk of gaining again! Is this a plan that would work for someone like me do you think who needs motivating and supporting?

The breakfasts and lunches look absolutely wonderful but the dinners are nearly all based around Indian and Thai food. Very little english basic meals. What can I do?

  • vanessa24 October 2010 at 13:47

Hi ya, i have done this diet before about 20 years ago and i found it really easy, i was a stay at home mum. I want to do this diet again but i am working and not to sure how i would be able to propare the food for lunch. Any ideas????

  • Ang26 October 2010 at 08:18

Hi, I've been on Jenny Craig for 4 weeks now and have shed 12 pounds which i'm really chuffed about. I can honestly say I have found this really easy to follow and like everyone else wanting to lose weight, I have tried every other diet under the sun. For me, a lot of it was about getting my backside in gear and getting myself organised. I bring to work veggie sticks (carrots, cucumber, celery, corgettes etc) and reach for those if I feel I need something in between the food on my JC menu. I have increased my exercise which I also feel has helped accelerated the weight loss. I have cut down dramatically on my alcohol intake (without compromising my social life) and stick rigidly to vodka & slimline tonic on a night out instead of wine. I've stocked up on yoghurts and fruit so there is no excuse for me to reach for something unhealthy. Jenny Craig is not a cheap option but for me this is the best diet / eating plan I have ever been on and worth every penny. To know that my breakfast, lunch and dinner is all sorted for me has made a huge difference - no more trips to the sandwich shop lunchtime and wrestling with my conscience as to whether I have a sandwich or a salad! Its very easy to get into the swing of it and i've also found that if i'm out and about (say at the weekend), my food choices are better. My friends can't believe how motivated I am (my husband thinks I am having an out of body experience) which says a lot about my motivation on JC compared to other diets. Just wanted to share this with anyone thinking about whether to go for it and hope it helps.

Sorry have been a bit silent on this, things have got very hectic - we think it's the pre-Xmas rush as yesterday was exactly two months till the big day!

Sarah - it's under ten pounds a day for all your food and consultations, and then there are membership fees depending on how long you need/want to be on the programme.

Adele - although there's still an element of willpower required a) this is a lot 'easier' than other diets in that the food is provided, is genuinely 'normal' (no shakes!) and you don't feel deprived and b) the consultant is there to act as your Jimminy Cricket, to inspire/challenge/nag/advise you!

Lisa - it's under ten pounds a day and remember that's all your food. In terms of time - most of our clients really rate the ease and convenience. No weighing/counting/chopping - simply pop it in the microwave for a few minutes.

Anne - if you look on the Food page you can see the whole range - dinners include such non-Indian staples as Chicken Chasseur and Lamb Hotpot! You can also talk to your consultant and devise a plan avoiding spicy foods.

Vanessa - welcome back! Are you worried about having lunch at work? The lunches (soups, noodles, couscous etc) can be microwaved or for some of them you just need a kettle. If you don't have a micro at work what some people do is heat it up in the morning and then take a thermos into the office?

Ang - abslutely DELIGHTED to hear you're doing so well, and I hope other people reading this are encouraged by your kind words. I've made sure your consultant reads this!

How much does this cost ?thankyou kerry.

  • lucy 01 November 2010 at 12:29

hi i was just wondering how much this cost , it seems really good and you look amazing in the videos and adverts i just wanted to know the price before i got into the idea incase i cant afford it

  • Helen from Jenny Craig02 November 2010 at 03:02

    Hi there Kerry and Lucy

The programme is under ten pounds a day, which covers all your food and consultations. That may seem a lot, but have a think about honestly how much you spend each day when you factor in the lunchtime sandwich, that sneaky latte and muffin! There's then membership which helps you with maintenance once you've reached your goal weight.

Thanks for your nice comments about Cheryl, will make sure she sees them!

    How does the programme cost?

  • Drusilla Lloyd03 November 2010 at 14:25

I have been on this healthy living plan for a couple of months now and my consultant Lee is so super in helping me deal with every blip that could get in my way. I have lots to lose - however I feel really good about my self - first time in over 30 years. The food is wonderful and the weekly chats with Lee are such a boost, along with the 1lb or 2lb weight loss of course. 18lbs loss in total so far.

How Much does it all cost

  • Jane Desmond04 November 2010 at 17:49

Hi jane here I am 52 and lead a very busy life, I like my food and know I eat portions that are to large. I like the idea of having the food ready prepared but will I be hungry. I have been yoyo dietng all my life but I do excercise

  • Helen from Jenny Craig09 November 2010 at 05:22

Heen, unfortunately we cannot cater for people with coeiliac disease at the moment, sorry.

Drusilla, very happy to hear it and will pass your kind words onto Leanne!

Jessica, our clients average between 1 and 2lbs healthy weight loss each week, so it should be possible! Your consultant will work with you to devise an exercise programme which fits in with your life, rather than the other way round! Have you tried using a pedometer to see how far you're actually walking with your dog?

Peter, it's under ten pounds a day for all your food and consultations.

Jane, the plan comes in at either 1200 or 1500 calories a day so it's not one of those starvation diets! We provide snacks, and there are lots of 'free foods' you can use to bulk out your portions, but Cheryl was saying last week often she actually feels too full. We recently did a customer survey and we only had 2% of our clients saying they felt hungry.

  • Helen from Jenny Craig09 November 2010 at 05:27

Patel, it's just under ten pounds a day for all your food and consultations.

  • catherine10 November 2010 at 08:09

hey, how much is it, I can't find the price anywhere? x

  • fran11 November 2010 at 05:56

I am dairy free would it be ok for me to do ?

  • Helen from Jenny Craig11 November 2010 at 06:53

Fran, are you lactose intolerant or is it just a dislike?

Catherine, it's nine pounds ninety (sorry, this thing won't do pound signs!) a day for all your food and consultations.

  • Louise from Jenny Craig11 November 2010 at 11:25

Fran, have just had a chat with our chief dietician who looks after the nutritional element of our plan.

The upshot is, yes, we can do dairy free. When you call the consultant can check all the ingredients on the back of pack, and we have a list of the products and their ingredients on a data base and what is and isn't milk free.

But it does depend on whether you're actually allergic and if so does that apply to egg too (they often go together as an allergy)? If you're sufficiently allergic that you suffer an anaphylaxis reaction to any ingredient, then I'm afraid we wouldn't be able to allow you on the programme as there may be a tiny risk of a product having come into contact with a small amount of milk or egg.

    I hope that explains everything!

  • Michaela06 June 2011 at 16:35

I have been on JC for 10 weeks now and its the best thing I have done for myself in years. I have lost 24lb, so far. I feel great and have gone down 1 to 2 dress sizes, depending on where I shop. My children are really noticing a difference in me, im losing inches, more active and I feel great which makes me a "happy mum". Looking forward to losing more weight and inches, got a long way to go but know I can do it. Jen, my consultant, keeps me positive every week, its great talking to her, she really knows her stuff. Would recommend this to anyone who has dieted and dieted and never really got anywhere, this is great, a real life changer.

  • Sam from Jenny Craig08 June 2011 at 05:17

Congratulations, Michaela - we're so pleased that you're having such a positive experience on Jenny Craig. It's lovely when you get to the stage where people are noticing your weight loss and I'm sure this will keep you really motivated. We look forward to getting you to goal!
