Jenny Craig, Inc. was founded in Australia in 1983 by weight loss experts Jenny and Sidney Craig, who sought to establish ‘a company that would incorporate all the necessary benefits of successful weight management.’ Jenny Craig opened its first nine Weight Loss Centres in Melbourne, all of which still stand today.

Healthy Eating Habits

An Active Lifestyle
The activity element of the Jenny Craig Programme (see options) was developed in consultation with the world-renowned Cooper Institute. It encourages you to gradually increase fitness through a combination of natural, planned and ‘playful’ physical activities. It should be fun. Whether you are hoping to lose a small amount of weight in time for a special occasion, or you want to make significant gains in your body and lifestyle, at Jenny Craig, we can tailor the programme to meet your needs. The Jenny Craig Programme (see options) has been designed to result in a weekly healthy weight loss of 1-2lb or 1% of your total body weight. The reality is these results may vary based on an individual's personal weight history, body composition, level/frequency of physical activity, and motivation, among other factors. And Jenny Craig can help you to understand this and, as a result, maximise your success.

At Jenny Craig we are very focused on not just helping you lose weight – but to keep it off after as well. Various different membership lengths and fees apply that entitle you to ongoing consultations once you have achieved your goal weight to ensure you maintain your weight loss.

Jenny Craig focuses on three key aspects critical for weight loss success: food, body and mind. Depending on which option you have chosen (see options) you’ll get all three aspects together, you’ll get only the food or you’ll get consultation.
If you have chosen the Jenny Craig Programme, when you first get started, your personal consultant will work with you to develop a personalised programme to fulfil your goals. Each week, you'll speak privately with your friendly consultant via phone, helping to plan your menu and activities, discuss strategies for overcoming challenges better and, just as importantly, celebrate your successes with you. You'll order your Jenny Craig meals direct from your consultant and receive them right at your door in four-weekly increments. Your personal programme will also include activities tailored to suit your current level of fitness. If you have chosen one of our membership options, you will move to our weight maintenance programme once you have reached your goal weight and continue to get your consultant’s support and advice for the period chosen.
If you have chosen Jenny Food, when you first get started, you’ll be sent a range of food as part of our balanced menu plans tailored to your needs. You’ll receive one breakfast, one lunch, one dinner and one snack for every day.
If you have chosen the Jenny Consultation, when you first get started, your personal consultant will work with you to develop a personalised programme. Each week, you'll speak privately with your friendly consultant via phone, helping to plan your menu based on different food groups. Your personal programme will also include activities tailored to suit your current level of fitness.
Each week, you'll be able to speak privately with your personal Weight Management Coach during a 15-minute phone call. It’s a chance for you to discuss any problems you’ve been having and to get great advice from someone in the know. Your coach will help monitor your progress; encourage you to set specific goals towards building a healthier relationship with food, leading a more active lifestyle and adding balance to your lifestyle. If, for example, you have a holiday scheduled, your coach will be able to provide various strategies to help you cope better on holiday, where challenges can crop up unexpectedly. Of course, your coach is also there to help keep your weight loss plan on track day-to-day, working with you to devise a satisfying and convenient weekly menu.
You can also call your coach (or another member of the team) at any time – and the Jenny Care team is also on standby Mon-Fri from 8am to 8pm to help you out.
Your personal Weight Management Coach will help determine your optimal calorie level, based on your age, height, current weight, gender and fitness. Our lowest calorie level is 1200 calories per day. Menus are designed to promote a safe, healthy rate of weight loss (1-2lb per week).
We recommend you only weigh yourself once a week and at a consistent time (preferably in the morning) to avoid any discouragement due to normal daily weight fluctuations.
Jenny Craig Foods are delivered in hampers to your door via the delivery company DPD. If you place your order with us before 12pm (lunchtime) we can usually deliver to you the next working day (some postcodes take a little longer). If you order after 12pm (lunchtime) then it will take one additional working day to deliver. You are able to specify a later date if this will be more convenient to you, simply inform your coach when ordering. DPD will require a signature when delivering to you.
First, open the envelope in the hamper and check the products received against the enclosed delivery note. Then you can get started! It’s a great idea to look over the Getting Started Guide and Week 1 Menu before your first consultation, just so you can get the very best out of the time you get with your personal Weight Management Coach.
No, we do not automatically resend the food. When you get to the point where you only have one week of food remaining, you can place your next food order with your coach during your weekly phone consultation. It couldn’t be easier.
Absolutely - once the baby is three months old. Nursing mothers follow a modified calorie level based on the child's age and frequency of breastfeeding, and we inform their doctor.
No. The Jenny Craig Programme (see options) is currently only available to those over 18 years old.
You may cancel your agreement with us at any time up to 7 days from the date the contract is concluded. Cancellation must be in writing and send to us to Jenny Craig UK, St George’s House, Croydon, CR9 1NR
Within 30 days of receiving your cancellation notice, we will refund:

Any programme membership fee (if applicable) paid by you less an appropriate deduction for any services received by you and

The price of any food or other products which you have ordered from us and have not been dispatched. This does not affect your statutory rights.
If you cancel this agreement any personal data which you have already provided to us will be deleted.

During your weight-loss journey, your Jenny Craig Coach will provide healthier cooking techniques and recipes to help develop your food-preparation skills. This will mean, by the time you’ve reached your chosen weight, you’ll find yourself instinctively applying these new skills in planning meals for days on your own. With Jenny Craig, it’s all about establishing new, healthier habits to last you a lifetime.
You have the choice. The Jenny Craig Programme (see options) comes as a complete package – including both food and consultation. By following the Jenny Craig Menu, you'll be practicing valuable habits, such as portion control, which are essential for healthy weight loss and sustained weight management. As you learn strategies to help you manage social and emotional eating, you'll have the key skills needed to transition from the Jenny Craig Menu to planning your own delicious menu. It’s the ultimate goal – learning to shop, cook and socialise with foods. If you chose Jenny Food, you will get your breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack for 28 days. If you chose Jenny Consultation, you will only receive consultation for 28 days and will not get any food delivered by us.
The Jenny Craig Menu includes Jenny Craig meals and snacks as well as your own store-cupboard essentials. You'll enjoy three Jenny Craig meals and one Jenny Craig snack every day, while complementing this with plenty of fresh fruit, vegetables and reduced-fat milk products yourself.
A healthy balanced diet should provide adequate vitamins and minerals. However, it can be difficult to achieve your vitamin and mineral requirements when following a reduced calorie diet. We therefore recommend that you complement your Jenny Craig menu with a standard multi-vitamin and mineral supplement.
Yes, our menu gives you the flexibility of being able to eat at a restaurant, plus the confidence to make healthier food choices there. In fact, our Weight Management Manual has entire sections devoted to effective dining-out strategies, and there are Meal On My Own options available on your menu. You also have the option of eating your Jenny Craig meal at home, and enjoying your added food servings at the restaurant. Speak about your eating out plans with your coach who can help you make the best choice for you.
Although we recommend limiting your consumption of alcohol, your coach can work with you to fit some alcohol into your menu. We can help personalise your menu to include your favourite foods and beverages, in moderation, of course.
No. While the media has focused attention on low-carb diets and products, for successful, long-term, healthy weight loss, calories are key, not carbs. By focusing on calories, you don't need to avoid entire food groups, buy special low-carb products or give up the foods you love.
As a much healthier option, the Jenny Craig Programme (see options) includes all foods – including those with carbohydrates – but in moderation. The menu also contains fruit, vegetables, grains and low-fat dairy, so you never feel as though you are denying yourself.
Yes you can continue to enjoy caffeinated drinks. If you are a heavy coffee, tea or cola drinker, you may want to consider cutting back. However, if you do decide to reduce your caffeine intake, do so gradually.
Any food not listed in bold-faced type on your menu is an item that can easily be swapped for something else. Just use the Jenny Craig Grocery Guide.
We do have meatless meal options. The meatless options, however, are not vegan and may contain dairy or egg.
Consultations & Support
Weekly phone consultations are a pivotal part of the programme. We want to ensure that you're experiencing a healthy rate of weight loss. Our JennyCare department is staffed with trained, caring Jenny Craig representatives from Monday-Saturday, 9am-8pm. Consider your coach as your 'partner in weight loss'. During your weekly consultations, you will review your progress together, address any challenges you may be experiencing, and work on menu and activity plans. All this will give you the best possible Jenny Craig experience.
Jenny Craig prides itself on hiring health-oriented and customer-focused individuals who genuinely enjoy working with people. All coaches attend a comprehensive training course and are certified by a Jenny Craig Trainer. They also receive ongoing monthly education in nutrition, motivation and stress management. What’s more, if you have any special needs or requests, your coach can call on our team of trained dietitians for expert advice to ensure you get the best support there is.

Getting Active
The Jenny Craig exercise component was developed in consultation with the world-renowned Cooper Institute. Jenny Craig encourages clients to gradually increase fitness through a combination of natural, planned and ‘playful’ physical activities*. Your Jenny Craig Consultant will work with you to develop a regime that starts where you are now and builds up slowly yet surely.
Your exercise plan will involve a combination of walking, resistance, and ‘natural’ activity. It's not a strenuous regime, but an active lifestyle that can make all the difference between maintainers and weight re-gainers. At Jenny Craig, you'll learn strategies for building an active lifestyle to enhance your own weight loss success.

On Jenny Craig, you'll gradually increase your level of fitness through a combination of natural, planned and ‘playful’ physical activities, learning how to incorporate more activity into your everyday routine – without disrupting it.

Planned activities make sure your exercise regime is well-rounded, incorporating cardio, resistance and stretching. Examples include: weightlifting, walking, yoga, kickboxing or aerobics.

Natural activities include everyday tasks, such as walking to work – even shopping! You'll learn to identify opportunities for activity you might not be aware of, like walking around during your child's sport’s day or vacuuming during TV ad breaks.

‘Playful’ activities give permission for you to take the time to be active without taking quality time away from family and friends. Instead of going to a movie with friends, try dancing, a bike ride or taking your kids in the park.

Research has shown an active lifestyle to be critical in successful weight loss. While it's true that physical activity supports consistent weight loss, its role is even more critical in the long-term. Your Jenny Craig Consultant will work with you to help identify any barriers you have to physical activity – and help you develop the motivation and strategies to overcome them. Always keep in mind it's not a strenuous regime, but an active lifestyle that helps make all the difference between maintainers and weight re-gainers.
Congratulations! However, your Jenny Craig Consultant will still work with you to develop a personalised, staged approach that might include adding some new activities to your current regime. The best activity plan for weight loss combines cardio, resistance and stretching. If you've focused on moderate-intensity activities like walking or cycling, why not boost your metabolism with some resistance training? If you're already doing both, you might focus on the mind/body benefits of stretching activities like yoga. Your consultant will help you decide on the best options for you.
